I know all I do is talk about goals, but come it’s not that annoying, right?
I actually did some research for this one, to see what are some different types of goals people might set for themselves or is recognized by professionals.
First, let’s dicuss my pesonal catergories I like to sort my goals into (and some examples for each catergory.)
Fitness, hobby, personal, and school/work
Fitness
- Do yoga for an hour
- Run/walk 2 miles
- Do a HIIT workout every-day
- Do arm exercises
Hobby
- Sew 50 masks
- Write a new chapter everyday
- Learn a new song on whatever instrument you play
- Learn something new about your hobby (new art styles, different fashion eras, history of music, etc)
Personal
- Start journaling
- List whatever you’re gratedul for every night
- Spend more time with my family
- Be consistent with your self-care routine
School/work
- Get into an AP class
- Learn to manage your time
- Maintain a 3.5 gpa
- Develop better public speaking skills
Eastern Washington University says that there are three different types of goals; process, performance, and outcome.
“Process, performance, and outcome goals have a linear relationship. This is important because if you achieve your process goals, you give yourself a good chance to achieve your performance goals. Similarly, when you achieve your performance goals, you have a better chance of achieving your outcome goal.”
You can check out the link to see what examples they have for each goal, but here are some of my own personal goals-
Process goals
“…specific actions or ‘processes’ of performing.”
- Eat healthier
- Play my guitar for 30 minutes every-day
- Do yoga every-day for an hour
- Write a chapter every-day
Performance goals
“… based on personal standard. “
- Get into a course you might want to take
- Buy a new house
- Run 2k in 20 minutes
- Climb a mountain
Outcome goals
“…based on winning.
- Win something
- Get your dream job
- Win employee of the month (do they still do that?)
- Win top 10 in a race
Another article called Seven Types of Goals for All Areas of Life by Anthony ONeal lists catergories such as family, spiritual, educatonal, etc.
This article was actually nice to read and I took away a lot of things that I added to my catergories. Here are some from the article-
Family
- Take time out of your day to cll your parents/grandparents/ guardians
- Go out for coffee with siblings or cousins
- Encourage your family to put away the electronics and spend some time together to spend time together
- Go out on a hike with your family
Financial
- Create a budget for a vaction (or something else)
- Start an emergency fund
- Learn how to spend less money
- Start to invest
Educational
- Create a list of things you want to learn
- Learn a new language
- Plan to take a new class/course
I hope you liked this! This was just a post on different types and different catergories of goals. You do not need to set goals to fit the things I have listed above.
This post felt a little random compared to other things I have posted, but I hope to expand my blog and write all types of things. Hopefully, this was entertaining to read. Feel free to leave suggestions of things I should write about in my blog!
As always, remember that you are loved and will be forever valid, xoxo.
