I’m back!- Lets Talk About It

Hi, everybody!

I know that I abandoned this blog a few years ago and I apologize. High school has been keeping me busy.

But, it’s my senior year (🥲) and I am feeling more inspiration to write and be creative.

It feels like I’m in a new chapter of my life and I just have so much more to share as I edge closer and closer to becoming an adult.

I have made it a goal to work on myself and balance all aspects of my life.

I’m still new to this journey and I love listening to others’ stories which inspired me to share my own.

I’ll be updating once a week probably on Saturday. I’m not 100% sure about my content, but I’ll share some lessons I learnt that week, obstacles, and just some tips.

Thank you for reading this :))) see you soon!

I love love cooking, Episode 1: Tiktok Tortilla

Okay I lied, I don’t like cooking. I really really don’t. I’m scared of anything that is physically hot and every time I cook I end up not liking what I made.

The only thing I think I’m kinda good at making is pasta, which can get old fast.

But, you know what I want to change that this year and with summer coming up, I’m going to start trying new recipes.

Today, I tried one of those Tiktok tortillas with my own fillings!

There it is in all of its glory! It was honestly so delicious, even though I was terrified that my fillings would not go together. Fortunately, it turned out great!

Although, there are about a gazillion recipes and you can fill it just about anything (a great way to finish those leftovers) here is what I put in mine, in case y’all want some inspiration!

The first thing I put on my tortilla was my veggie mix!

I cut up some bell pepper (red, of course), carrots, and a little bit of plum I had left. I then mixed in some Chipotle mustard and honey mustard in it. And just mixed them all together.

The second little corner had some extra spicy salsa that you can buy from Walmart!

Third I added some leftover idli.

And then some pickles lol.

I topped all the fillings with a little bit of feta cheese and then got to “wrapping” my tortilla.

And basically that was it! It was honestly so easy and so filling, I absolutely loved making this recipe! And, it required absolutely no cooking. I didn’t even heat up my tortilla, only the idli (and that too in the microwave haha).

Even though this was a simple recipe, I absolutely loved making it and eating it! It was an effortless way to start off my day with something fulfilling and delicious.

I am really excited to try more recipes and can’t wait to share them all with you all! Thank you so much for tuning in this week, until next time, Riri.

We Tried- Boba…without tapioca

Hey everyone! I hope all of you are staying safe and doing alright.

This week, I stumbled across a video of someone making boba but without using tapioca flour. Usually when making boba you make the flavor using whatever fruit or drink you wish and then add tapioca flour to it. But, we still haven’t found tapioca flour in any stores yet, (ugh..) so we decided to try this recipe out!

Btw- the original video will be linked down below :))

So for this recipe all you will need is-

1 tbsp cornstarch

1/2 tsp water

1 1/2 brown sugar (we used maple syrup as a substitute!)

food coloring (optional)

1/4 cup of all purpose flour

1 tbsp water (for the syrup)

1 tbsp brown sugar (for the syrup)

Let’s begin-

So, first in a bowl mix together the cornstarch, water, and brown sugar (or whatever sub you might be using).

Put the mixture into the microwave for 40 seconds, take it out every 10 seconds to mix it.

Once done, add the optional food coloring and the all purpose flour.

Mold them into tiny balls and coat them lightly with more flour.

Next, get a pot, fill it up with water, and let it boil.

Once it starts to boil, add the boba. When the boba starts rising to the top, take it out.

For the syrup-

In a pan, get some water and brown sugar and let that do it’s thing and then just put the boba in and voila, you’re done!

Review-

So, my brother and I actually messed up quite a bit actually haha.

Starting off, we used male syrup instead of brown sugar. Then we coated the boba in cornstarch. And we also used other ingredients to make our syrup. So, personally ours didn’t turn out anything like boba and was more like dough.

We both agreed to give it a 5/10, but even then I would encourage all of you to try the recipe out too (don’t make the same mistakes we did, haha) and tell me how you like it!

And that concludes this! Thank you so much for reading the post and let me know if you try the recipe.

Remember that you are loved and will forever be valid. Make sure to stay hydrated and eat a meal or two while you’re at it :))

We Tried- Pomegranate Lemonade

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well and staying safe. I know it’s been a hot minute since I posted on here, but I decided to come back ( if any of you even care haha).

I’ve recently been getting into cooking and also have been getting my brother into cooking. Whenever we both have the time we love to see all sorts of recipes online and try one of them.

Last week we tried pomegranate lemonade as you probably read from the title. This was a super simple recipe that took no longer than 5 minutes! It was also a bonus since my brother loves lemonade.

For this recipe all you will need is-

  1. One full pomegranate
  2. A jar ( or bowl)
  3. A spoon
  4. Strainer
  5. 1 tbs sugar
  6. A pot
  7. Lemon juice
  8. Water

Instructions-

First take out all your seeds from your pomegranate and put them in a jar (or bowl).

Next get a spoon and smash them to get all the juice.

Put the juice in a pot and put it on the stove on medium (or 4 if you have numbers).

While you’re waiting for that, make your lemonade.

Then get a cup, pour the pomegranate juice and lemonade. And ta-da! you’re all done.

Review-

The recipe turned out great! It gave lemonade a fun and refreshing twist and made it even better. This recipe is great to make for yourself or for a bug gathering gathering during summer or particularly hot days.

I hope all of you enjoyed this post! I am sorry that is kinda sort and that I’ve been gone for a hot second, but I’m back and I have quite a few things in mind.

Thank you all so much for joining me and until next time, remember that you will forever be loved and are valid. Please remember to take care of yourself, eat a meal or two, and hydrate!

Here’s the original recipe. Feel free to check it out-

Things to do with your friends- Let’s Talk About It

Photo by Pok Rie on Pexels.com

Hey folks! I know this post is a little off-topic but I though this post be a great idea considering we’re all still inside and we all miss our friends and family (it can’t be just me, right?).

  • Virtual Movie Marathon.

My friends and I have actually been doing this for months and it is so fun! You can hop on a zoom call together and share your screen and vise versa. I also heard Disney+ has a new streaming service so.

  • Virtual Baking Party.

My friends and I also did this where we just Facetimed each other and baked, and it was amazing!

P.S- You can go on a picnic with the right precautions!

  • Virtual Birthday Party.

I did this a couple times for my friends too and a few times I was actually able to surprise them! There’s many games you can play virtually that will get the party started!

A Kahoot! (On the birthday person or anything else!)

Skribbl is also a great one.

  • Virtual Sleepover.

This one probably ties in with the other ones, but let me tell you I love having virtual sleepovers! My friends and I actually had some way before the pandemic since we live all over the country. Just get your comfy pajamas on, get some snacks, and call your friends!

You can do so much while having one, such as take some goofy quizzes, watch some movies, shop online, and many more.

That’s it! I do apologize for this being a short post. Please feel free to comment some ideas.

Remember you’re loved and will forever be valid. Please hydrate yourself and eat a meal or two while you’re at it.

Also, update on the election Joe Biden is in the lead, but let’s see what the future has in store!

If you want to keep up with the election.

Decor ideas- Let’s Talk About It

Hey folks! I hope you all are doing well and staying safe! I want to start decorating my room this month, so I thought I would list some ideas I have!

  • Bloody skelton

This is one decoration I like to put up every year! All I did was buy a skeleton from Target and get some fake blood. (You can make some or buy some from a store.)

  • Sticky notes wall

One of my friends did this where she wrote all sorts of things on stick notes and made a heart shape with it. Another thing you can do is make a collage of your favorite pictures, memories, people, etc. (I have a collage of all the people I look up to!)

Post-It Power - MRS. BECK'S FINE ART CLASSES
  • Inspiration wall

This is very simple. All you have to do is print out one inspirational quote and write other inspirational quotes on sticky notes.

I love just taking a minute to breath and read this while i’m having a bad or overwhelming day!

Note- This can be totally personalized! You can even make a collage of things that inspire you or a sort of mood board.

  • Mood board

All you need is a cork board, pins, and a printer. Just get some pictures and pin it on the board!

Haha, my handwriting isn’t the best. 😅
  • Make use of coco-cola cans!

I always recommend recycling, but if you can’t or don’t want to, you can reusing! Some simple things you can do is stack them, paint them, hang up as a banner using ribbon, and many other things.

Here are some (crappy) crafts i’ve attempted to make out of coco-cola cans.
  • Mini shelf out of shoe box/other boxes

Have you seen those stacks of books and just get super jealous? I have been wanting to do those for a long time, but I never had any space and the only space I did have was near my window where my books would get damaged. Instead, I just put some of my favorite books in a box and decorated the top with some other stuff!

Ugh, I just love my psychology books! 😻

Anyway, that’s all for this post! I know this was short, but I hope you all enjoyed it! Remember that you are loved and will forever be valid. Please remember to hydrate and eat a meal or two while you’re at it.

My October – Let’s talk about it

Photo by Gabby K on Pexels.com

Hey everyone! So October is coming to end and I thought that this would be a good time to talk about our goals, what we have in mind for November, and what we learned this month.

So, some goals I had for this month was finish the Halloween book I started, start sewing, and contiune to play the guitar.

Here’s the link to the post if you’re curious.

This month was actually very busy and stressful for me. I had a lot of work and towards the end I got an eye procedure (that was quite umcomfortable) and we almost had to evacuate. I tried my best to achieve the goals I had set and was almost sucessful.

For example, I finished the book, started to sew (my mom and I have made about 50 masks) and I am halfway through learning a new song.

So, since I didn’t fully achieve my goals, I’m going to reevaluate everything I did and see what I can do to get better.

  1. Manage my time.

This month I tried to balance out my school and personal life. I was sucessful, but could have done better. I was able to complete my assignments but at the same time I started to get overwhelmed. So, my plan is to give myself little less stuff to do and start to manage my time.

2. Set priorities.

This is one of the things I have struggled with for a long time, especially this month. Some days I got so overwhelmed I just got tired and fed up. So, this month I was be trying to set my priorities.

Now my new goals for November includes-

  • Get better at cooking and baking
  • Start to learn Korean
  • Spend more time with my friends (Ugh, I don’t even know the last time we actually talked about anything but school.)
  • Get my grades up
  • Start applying for scholarships

I know that this month I’m aiming too high this time too, but hopefully I’ll have different results.

And finally, some lessons I learned this month-

  1. Avoid coffee during emergencies (sooo I may have gulped down a cup of coffee right before m procedure, that really helped.)
  2. Manage my time
  3. Set priorities

Annnnd that’s it!

Thank you so much for reading the post. I hope you all liked it. Feel free to list your own goals, lessons, and plans down in the comments.

Please remember that you are loved and will forever be valid. Stay hydrated and eat a meal or two while you’re at it. And please stay safe and reach out for help if you ever need it. (My DMs are always open here or on my insta @youarelovedtoday_andalways).

Being dependent-Let’s Talk About It

Hey folks! I know this may be a but out of a blue, but I wanted to talk about being independent and dependent.

Note: This is no way professional and there is a very high chance of me being wrong. I have just come to this conclusion after some stuff I have been through and what some people I know have been through.

So, I think that as long as you find a healthy balance between being dependent, the effects can be different.

I believe that life is a constant cycle of cause and effect.

Being dependent isn’t necesarily a bad or good thing, you just have to find a balance. Dependecy can be just because of someone’s personality, things they have been through, and other things.

Dependent people are seen as clingy, weak, and other things. (This doesn’t have to be true.)

But, one tip I want to give to everyone is that relying on people comes with risks.

I don’t want to come off as harsh and at the end of the day, it’s fine if you do depend on someone. And I promise that I do not have bad intentions but rather just want what is best for you. Also, please remember that there are always exceptions to everything.

The thing is that when you depend on someone, you start to need them. And the thing is people leave. They manipulate you, break you down, hurt you and so much more.

Not every person will do this but there is a chance.

You put yourself at risk for losing control.

Don’t get me wrong, being in a relationship is great and all, but when they become your reason to live, your source for money, only reason you feel good about yourself, and other things like that it starts to become toxic.

No one owes anyone love, money, satisfaction, etc. (There are exceptions of course, such as parents, guardians, etc) and getting all that not from yourself but from another person can be unhealthy.

If you do rely on a person to make you feel better about yourself, try to work on your self-confidence and bond with yourself. If you rely on a person for happiness, find a hobby or more interests and start to bond with yourself (you’re gonna see me mention that quite a few times.) because at the end of the day you never leave yourself.

The only thing I want you all to remember is that there is always another solution.

You are more than allowed to rely on someone or not rely on someone and if you and that person are safe, healthy, and doing okay, then it’s all good.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading. I’m sorry this post may be a little controversial, offensive, or just downright false. I just wanted to talk about this as it just popped into my head.

Remember that you are loved and will forever be valid. Make sure to stay hydrates and eat a meal or two while you’re at it.

Also, feel free to write your own opinion about being dependent in the comments, but please try to be nice!

Have a great day/night and stay safe!

Evacuating- Let’s Talk About It

Photo by Nadi Lindsay on Pexels.com

Hey folks! Some of you may know about the fires and some of you may not know. Basically there has been fires going on for quite a few months now and there is a new in Silverado. A lot of people are either evacuating, getting ready to evacuate, or might know someone who will be evacuating.

My family and I and a few of my friends/teachers have evacuated and because of that I wanted to come on here and give some tips on what to pack when evacuating, and some resources you can check out.

Tips for evacuating-

  • Make sure to keep up with the news

Here’s a website you can use to keep up with the fires

  • Check up on our friends/family
  • Pack all the essentials
  • Create an evacuation plan
  • Make sure your phone is fully charged
  • Make sure you and your pets and little ones are okay and pack essentials for them

What to pack-

  • Legal/important documents
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc.)
  • Any medication you or your roommate/family members might take
  • Your computer and anything you might need for work/school
  • Clothes (I would recommend to pack for at least 2 days)
  • Some money
  • A pillow/ blanket
  • Flashlight
  • Water/food

Creating an evacuation plan

  • Where are you going to go?
  • Do you have everything you need?
  • Are your pets/little ones/friends/family members safe?
  • Is your phone fully charged?
  • Are you in comfortable clothing?

Some resources-

To keep up with the fire

What all to pack

How to take care of your mental health

Creating an evacuation plan

Thank you for reading! I hope this was helpful. If you all need some other resources or just want someone to take to feel free to reach out to me here or on insta at youarelovedforever_andalways.

Please stay safe out there and remember that you are loved and will forever be valid. Please try to stay hydrated and eat a meal or two while you’re at it.
